HR Manager

Department

Solid State PLC (Manufacturing Division/Steatite Ltd) Direct report to MD. Currently around 200 employees in this division including recent acquisition, Active Silicon Ltd.

Location

As determined by the locations of sites and prime residency of the candidate.  Travel will be required to the production facilities and HQ on a regular weekly basis.

Key objective

To support the achievement of business and people objectives within the manufacturing division working closely with the senior team in supporting the agile culture to provide a customer focussed service. Assisting line managers and our people through professional, commercial and pragmatic HR advice and support.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing Talent & People initiatives in line with the overall strategy of the business taking into account existing competence and skills. Working with leadership team to review and streamline any organisational structure to maximise the talent.
  • Creating and implementing an efficient talent acquisition strategy to improve recruitment and business performance, whilst minimising the overall impact on the wider organisation
  • Applying creative strategies to attract diverse candidates to all areas of the business
  • Provides professional and confidential HR advice, support and administration across the full range of HR activity; including employee relations issues, terms and conditions of service, policies and procedures
  • Developing company wellbeing, health and counselling policies
  • Leading the analysis of employee feedback and data, with the aim of creating an inclusive and diverse working environment with an engaged culture
  • Driving and identifying activities to enhance the company’s culture
  • Management of policies and procedures, including the company handbook. Also ensuring that all employees are trained appropriately in support of implementation of the policies
  • Actively looks to promote succession planning and training and development including reviewing how to use the apprenticeship levy to its fullest extent
  • Actively seeks to introduce a coaching and mentoring culture within the division
  • Maintains current and accurate information within the HRIS provided by CTM Communications Ltd and shared drive and produces robust management information aligned to business needs. Maintains data protection at all times. Contributes to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices
  • Provides timely management information reports and data to the team
  • Be the HR champion for GDPR. Understand the requirements and develop policies, processes and documentation to ensure GDPR compliance in HR.  Respond to data subject access requests
  • Undertakes the timely checking of the payroll and production of relevant HR correspondence and contractual documents as required. Assist in the preparation of the annual salary review process
  • Acts as point of contact with benefit vendors/administration. Performs payroll and benefits audits and recommends corrective action. Conducts benefit enrolment process. Provides advice and support to employees on benefits.  Develop effective communication of benefit information by arranging lunch and learn sessions, clinics and a benefits booklet
  • Conducts salary benchmarking ensuring consistency across the organisation and understanding the external market
  • Undertakes HR project work when required
